What is this?
This is an in-browser Exploratory Data Analysis (EDA) tool built to let you quickly visualize and query tabular data without installing any software. Everything runs locally in your browser — no data is ever uploaded to a server.
Charts and aggregations are powered by the EDA JavaScript engine running entirely inside the browser tab. Data is fetched from the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet TRAK system and cached in your browser so subsequent loads are instant.
Available Datasets
The following datasets are available from the EDA Tool menu. They are sourced from the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet TRAK system, cached in your browser so subsequent loads are instant:
- Bridge Condition & Owner Area — bridge inventory and condition ratings by owner and geographic area
- Authorized Dataset — authorized dollars by project phase, cost, and schedule
- Awarded Projects — awarded construction contracts by district
- Current Enacted Plan — current enacted highway plan including funding allocations
- Expenditure Dataset — program expenditure data by district, county, and fiscal year
- Pavement Assessment — pavement condition (GFP) ratings with route geometry for map visualization
Charts
Use the Dimension, Measure, Split By, and Order controls to configure the chart. Supported measures include Count, Sum, and Average. Chart types include Vertical Bar, Horizontal Bar, and Pie. Click a bar or slice to filter the data table below to matching rows.
Map View
Click the Map button to switch to the interactive map. For datasets with geographic data:
- Bridge dataset — displays point markers colored by condition (Good/Fair/Poor) with drill-down by District, County, and Condition
- Pavement dataset — displays route segments as colored linestrings on the map. Hover for a quick summary, click for full details. Filter by District, County, and Condition.
Data Table
The data table below the chart shows all records for the current dataset. Use Select Columns to Show to choose which fields are visible. Each column header includes a filter (dropdown or text search). Use the Download Full Dataset CSV or Excel buttons to export data.
Year Filter
Datasets with time-based data show a year slider above the chart. Drag the handles to filter data to a specific year range. Click Reset to restore the full range.
