Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to common questions about TRAK and its data.

General

TRAK (Transportation Reporting and Analysis for Kentucky) is the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet's implementation of Performance Management (PM). It uses automated ETLs to pull data from the Cabinet's systems so performance can be tracked without manual, recurring reports.

TRAK is available to the public as well as KYTC staff.

No. TRAK is a free public resource provided by the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet.

Data & Reports

TRAK's automated ETLs refresh data on a regular schedule directly from source systems, so datasets stay current without waiting on a manually prepared report. Update frequency can vary by dataset.

Yes. Most datasets available through the Data Hub and EDA Tool can be downloaded for your own analysis. Look for the download option on the dataset or report page.

TRAK extracts data from the various systems used across KYTC divisions — including construction, maintenance, planning, program management, and highway safety — to quantify the work being performed agency-wide.

Because TRAK pulls directly from source systems on an automated schedule, figures can differ briefly from manually compiled reports that were generated at a different point in time. If a discrepancy looks like an error rather than a timing difference, please contact us.

Access & Technical

No account is required to browse TRAK, view reports, or download most public datasets.

TRAK works best in current versions of Chrome, Edge, Firefox, and Safari. Keeping your browser up to date will give you the best experience.

TRAK is built to align with the Commonwealth of Kentucky's accessibility standards. See the Accessibility Statement in the footer for more information, or contact us if you encounter a barrier.
